Our Ottawa Needs Public Toilets

Our Ottawa Needs Public Toilets raised public awareness about improving access to a network of safe, clean and accessible public toilets in the National Capital Region.

In partnership with Art House, GottaGo! called for visual, spoken word, song, poetry and video pieces that raised public awareness about the need for public toilets in Ottawa. Artists from across the region created and submitted work that challenged widespread misconceptions about public toilets and drew attention to this human rights issue.

Inspired by the innovative and successful campaign “My Winnipeg Includes Public Toilets” (2019), this GottaGo! program adapted the project for online and social media engagement.

Art House brings the Ottawa arts scene together in a space where you can eat, drink, create, and learn. Since 2017, Art House has supported local artists through hosting community events and workshops, and exhibiting and promoting their work.
